Everything I Love About A Cozy Sunday

A relaxing itinerary for how to start your week off right.

Today, I woke up at 10:30 AM. Not in a flustered frenzy because I accidentally slept through a class. Not in an exhausted, achey way that occurs most Saturdays. Today, I woke up peacefully and slowly, because it is Sunday.

Today, I drank a big cup of coffee in bed. I stayed in my pajamas, wandered out into the kitchen, and made an extra strong, extra honey-filled cup of coffee.

Today, I mozied on over to the gym. When I felt like it, I put on my favorite leggings and walked down to the gym. I put in a good run, then spent twenty minutes relaxing in the sauna.

Today, I put on a face mask for thirty minutes. I got home from the gym, rinsed off my face, then put on a cleansing face mask. I was still drenched in sweat, grabbed an ice cold seltzer from the fridge, and sat on my floor waiting for the mask to be done.

Today, I took a long, hot shower. I took the longest shower ever with yummy smelling soap and even shaved my legs. I listened to the Mamma Mia 2 soundtrack the whole time.

Today, I went to church with friends at 5 PM. I picked up some friends and went downtown for a cozy evening service. We worshipped, prayed, and spent time in the Word to prepare for the upcoming week.

Today, I made lots of food for the upcoming week. I got home and meal prepped for the upcoming week. I baked some chunks of chicken breast, chopped up veggies to snack on, and made lots and lots of hummus.

Today, I went to sleep at 10 PM. I finished up in the kitchen, washed my face, put on my favorite PJs, and went to sleep.

Because it is a Sunday.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
