Greatness in the making
Oluwatobi Oluwagbemi

My name is Oluwagbemi Oluwatobi and I am from Nigeria. I am studying International Relations and Women Studies. My biggest accomplishment as a leader has been getting a perfect G.P.A in my second semester of freshman year. I learned a lot of lessons that got me high grades. I used my motivation and challenged myself to become a success.

I want to start an organization in which I would help all these people and even those who want an education and do not have it.I spoke to my professors and we are already making plans for my organization and I have been so excited about it. To know that someday, I will put a smile on this people’s faces makes me so happy. I love to make a positive change in the world by focusing on my education.

My long term goal is to help people and make positive change in the world. I look up to Malala and Michelle Obama, and I am passionate about women’s rights. In my country, I see girls who have no access to education because of the fact that their culture says women should stay at home and be housewives. I want to help these talented girls so they can use their skills to better the lives of others too. I want people to understand the value of education and use it for empowerment. It is a privilege to be educated and I want to use this opportunity to build a high school and college for girls.

My Career goal is to be an ambassador and I am working towards that goal by studying hard in school and trying my best. I am an International Relations Student with a second major in Women’s Studies, my studies consist of classes that exposed me to the world and human relations. I want to be a person who can touch lives and make a difference in people’s lives. I want to work for an international organization and make a positive difference in the world. I want to help families in the community so that they can reach their goals. I want to help people get the education they need. I want to provide opportunities for the education of girls.

I am involved in the Public Leadership Education Network (PLEN). PLEN is an organization focused on building the leadership skills of women to be able to stand equal with their male counterparts. I am involved in LEAP. LEAP is a leadership program organized in California that trains youth between the ages of 16 and 26 on how to build key leadership skills to help them be successful. I intern with the African Women Alliance, I am interning for the D.F.L too. I also hope to be part of the Emerging Leaders that the Initiative Foundation is planning this summer. I was involved in the Model Arab League that was planned in North Dakota. I had to act like an ambassador and it was very serious, I was there to learn what I would be doing in future. I also hope to work for the Peace Corps this summer. I have been involved in the Red Cross in St. Cloud, Big Brothers Big Sisters and the Boys and Girls Club. I also write for the University Chronicle which is the school newspaper.

The reason that I have accomplished so much in the United States even though I am a foreign student is because I have used my ability to understand other cultures and I have also used my being multilingual to listen to other people and therefore I am committed to using my talent at the United Nations. I am committed to the sustainable development goals and my area of focus is gender equality. I believe that women are as creative as men and women need to be given more opportunities to exhibit their creativity. I am an advocate, feminist, writer, politician and motivational speaker. I believe that small steps can turn into big progress in the future. I know that I can achieve all my goals because I am determined to succeed. I will be going to graduate school when I am done with my bachelor’s degree next May. I hope to study International Development and Gender Studies so that I can work in the United Nations in the future. I believe that I can make a difference with all my involvement in St. Cloud which will enable to work at a higher international organization in Washington Dc and then I get to travel all over the world to make a positive difference.

I am doing all these to work at the United Nations in future. I am committed to excellence in leadership and I work very hard to maintain good grades while being involved in so many organizations. I am committed to working at the Peace Corps so that I can also work at the United Nations from there. I am so dedicated to the goals that I already attended Model UN in anticipation to be a diplomat in future. I have researched all that I need to do to become an ambassador and I am working hard in my education and my extra circular activities to get there.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
