11 Answers to Questions I Had About College

"Will I be tired all the time?"

As I start the second semester of my freshman year of college, I can't help but think back to the questions I had about college before I attended.

1. Will I make friends?

Yes, past me, you will make friends. Not only that, but you will find the best people in the world. The ones who will dance with you in your pajamas when you should be writing that paper, will make trips with you to Krispy Kreme at midnight, will go on adventures with you, and who will make you wonder what you ever did before you met them.

2. Will the dining hall food be really gross?

It honestly just depends on the day. It could be better, it could be gross. Grilled cheese Tuesday is pretty great, however.

3. How will I be away from my dogs for so long?

Well, missing your dogs will be hard, but asking your parents to send pictures of them will make the separation a little less hard.

4. Is college better than high school?

YES. A million and one times yes.

5. Is college harder than high school?

Also YES. A million and one times yes.

6. Will I be tired all the time?

So not all the time, but most of the time. Naps will become a means of survival.

7. Will I figure out how to do laundry without turning everything red?

My first time doing laundry using the old dorm machines was a lot like the poor lady struggling in the GIF above. But now I like to consider myself to be a laundry champ.

8. Are the community bathrooms as terrible as they seem?

I mean they certainly are not like the ones at the spa, but now showering with cheap flip flops on seems like second nature.

9. Will I find cool things to be involved in?

Yes, you will find so many cool things that you want to be involved in that it will be slightly overwhelming.

10. Will I still keep in touch with my friends back home?

Of course you will. You will pick up right where you left off when you reunite for Winter break. In the mean time, you will send each other memes constantly.

11. Will I have fun?

Yes, you will have just as much fun as Ron Swanson. Maybe even more.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
