A thank you letter to my most favorite coffee shop

Thank You, Creighton Starbucks
Starbucks Newsroom

About a year ago, I wrote an article titled To The Barista At My Favorite Coffee Shop to those who worked at the Starbucks on Creighton's campus last semester. Since those who worked there no longer do, I wanted to write a thank you letter to the new employees because they deserve their own thank you, as well.

Dear new employees at the Starbucks on Creighton's campus,

THANK. YOU. Thank you a million times for smiling, dealing with tons of orders each and every day, working from sunrise to sunset, and for seemingly never being unhappy about your job.

You guys rock. I see the line stretch across the Skutt Student Center daily, and although it stresses me out waiting in that line, I cannot imagine working that line (Actually I can. I worked at Cold Stone Creamery a while ago and we always had lines out the door for hours).

Thank you for smiling as you take everybody's order. Thank you for making each order perfectly. I honestly hardly ever see you guys make a mistake. You somehow manage to take your time making each drink so wonderfully, and yet still get it to the customers within a timely manner. You guys are working some magic behind that counter.

The "Starbucks experience," if you will, that you give to Creighton students, faculty, staff and guests is different from any other Starbucks. I mean, every Starbucks is amazing, but you guys are my personal favorite for many reasons. When I graduate in a year, I will likely miss visiting this location almost every day.

I remember one fall day, you guys drew fall designs on the pink, orange and blue colored fall cups. Not only do you do your job, you go above and beyond to do that job. So, thanks. Thank you for all that you do. I wait in line for 20 plus minutes because I love Starbucks coffee, but also because you guys make my day just a little brighter.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
